Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Pelicans Predictions and Picks

I love the idea of backing the under in this spot. Both teams faced one another on Monday night in the first leg of a back-to-back, and now they’ll be on the court 24 hours later to do it all over again.

New Orleans profiles as a team that has repeatedly played over the total this season, but they’re actually 6-4 to under in their last 10 games and 14-11 to the under in their last 25. And we know that Golden State has clearly been an under team as they’re 39-26 under the total this season.

We have some solid trends to the under in this matchup, beginning with Golden State on short rest and also their head-to-head meetings. One advantage the Warriors have over the Pelicans is their three-point shooting.

The Warriors are ranked sixth with 14.2 three-point field goals per game, while New Orleans is ranked 27th with just 10.6 per game.

So basically, once Golden State gets cooking from the three-point range, New Orleans is at a disadvantage because they don’t have the quality to use the three-point shot as a weapon to launch a comeback in the game.

The reality is the more New Orleans has to shoot threes, the more likely it is that Zion Williamson isn’t working on foul shooting from the free-throw line with the clock turned off.

I think that theory could play out again on Tuesday night, and that’s why I think the under deserves a strong look in this game.

The Pick: Under 234.5
