Michael Conforto Likely Headed to 10-Day IL

The Mets have yet to make an official decision, but MLB.com‘s Jon Morosi reports that Conforto is likely headed to the IL. He will undergo an MRI in Atlanta on Monday, and the Mets will make a final decision at that point. Conforto suffered the injury while running to first base during Sunday’s game vs. the Rays and was forced to exit that contest. Khalil Lee is the most likely candidate to replace Conforto on the active roster.

The Mets have had some poor luck with injuries recently. The team is still without Brandon Nimmo and J.D. Davis, and Jeff McNeil also suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s contest. McNeil is also expected to get an MRI in Atlanta, so it’s possible he could be headed to the IL as well.

The Mets were swept in Tampa Bay in their most recent series, but they entered that series on a seven-game win streak. They currently own a record of 18-16, which is still good enough for first place in the NL East. The Mets start a huge series vs. the Braves on Monday, and they’re listed as +136 underdogs in the opener on FanDuel Sportsbook.
